I have been teaching for 9 years (crazy!), and this time of year always gets me so excited for getting back into the classroom.
As a teacher, I have seen (and requested students to have) a LOT of school supplies. Finding budget friendly options is sort of a past-time for me, so I thought it would be fun to share with you my favorite school supplies from Dollar Tree… and give them all away in this video! I had so much fun shopping for this.
Whether you are a home-school mom, sending your little ones off to school, or a student yourself, I hope you find some of these products/ideas helpful.

When I was in California for VidCon and to visit family, I was eagerly anticipating dropping by Diaso– the largest Japanese Dollar Store. It’s a colorful and cheerful budget-friendly haven with a massive (and I do mean MASSIVE) selection of food, housewares, organizers, office supplies, crafting supplies, and more. To add the icing on the cake, everything in the store is just $1.50 (unless otherwise marked). Talk about complete marketing brilliance! Sold! Get me another suitcase!
After hearing from so many of you and I would be head over heels in love with this place, I took some of my vacation time to tour it. And because I’m crazy and love this sort of thing, it was a definite highlight of my time in Cali. I visited with my Aunt Karen, and she loved it just as much as I did. I feel like there were so many items I didn’t get the chance to film, but there were lots of highlights (namely the incredible organizing sections) that made this trip warrant at 8 minute + video. Hold on to your hats and don’t look away…or you might miss something. 😉
If you are looking for a Daiso near you, you can check out their website. They have locations in California, Washington, (and recently, Texas) in the US. But they are also in Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia and lots of other countries as well.
I’m definitely team “bring Diaso to the East Coast.” Who’s with me?

Dollar Tree started selling silicone oven mitts this year, and while I don’t find they work well for repelling heat, they make AMAZING makeup brush cleaners!
Here’s how to get your brushes clean for $1…not $40 like some companies are charging!

Every couple of months I pick up a few inexpensive finds from the Dollar Tree and/or the Dollar Spot at Target. Carson doesn’t go to day care yet, so all learning takes place at home. Very inexpensively you really can find a lot of great resources for keeping busy and learning! Here are a few favorite finds and how I store our learning activities. Simple and effective.
P.S. If you are a teacher, you need to get to the Dollar Spot now! There are some classroom resources!

Topiaries are so pricey. Pottery Barn sells them for at least $60 a piece, and other stores still gouge you! I’ve seen them at Home Goods for around $20-30 a piece (on the low end), and much higher for the larger ones.
But, you can make elegant, Pottery Barn inspired topiaries for LESS THAN $10 A TOPIARY! Here’s what you need and how to do it:

Dollar Tree Solar lights have been on my list of Dollar Tree products to test out for over a year now. My store had a great stock of them, so I picked up a few to see if they were worth a buck. And boy are they ever!
Here’s why I love them so much:
