Dollar Spot at Target | Toddler Haul

by Filed Under: Dollar Tree, Teaching

Every couple of months I pick up a few inexpensive finds from the Dollar Tree and/or the Dollar Spot at Target.  Carson doesn’t go to day care yet, so all learning takes place at home.  Very inexpensively you really can find a lot of great resources for keeping busy and learning!  Here are a few favorite finds and how I store our learning activities.  Simple and effective.

P.S.  If you are a teacher, you need to get to the Dollar Spot now!  There are some classroom resources!

Pottery Barn Inspired Topiaries…from Dollar Tree!

by Filed Under: DIY Projects, Dollar Tree

Topiaries are so pricey.  Pottery Barn sells them for at least $60 a piece, and other stores still gouge you!  I’ve seen them at Home Goods for around $20-30 a piece (on the low end), and much higher for the larger ones.

But, you can make elegant, Pottery Barn inspired topiaries for LESS THAN $10 A TOPIARY!  Here’s what you need and how to do it:

Dollar Tree Solar Light Review

by Filed Under: Dollar Tree

Dollar Tree Solar lights have been on my list of Dollar Tree products to test out for over a year now.  My store had a great stock of them, so I picked up a few to see if they were worth a buck.  And boy are they ever!

Here’s why I love them so much:

Dollar Tree Organizing

by Filed Under: Dollar Tree, Organization

The Dollar Tree has lots of new inventory for the upcoming fall season.  It’s back to school, so they are gearing up for students shopping for their college dorm rooms, and there are so many items to choose from to get you organized.

Here are some of my favorites and some before and after tours of spaces I’ve tackled in my own home.

Happy shopping!

Dollar Tree Birthday Party! | Movie Cars

by Filed Under: Dollar Tree, Teaching

Carson’s Birthday 2nd birthday had a small budget.  $20 for decor, and $70 for all the food with a guest list of 20 people.  Shopping at the Dollar Tree (and Costco) we stayed within our budget and made a super special day for him.  He loves Movie Cars!  Here’s how I did it and a few photos from the party:

Dollar Tree Organizing Makeover!

by Filed Under: DIY Projects, Dollar Tree, Organization

IMG_1586Having multi-use spaces in your home poses a challenge for effective organizing.  But, just because you have a small home doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice spaces feeling open and organized.  A friend of mine has a pantry/laundry room combination in her kitchen.  Trying to combine two very different areas, she felt overwhelmed.  She was trying to hide food in the cupboards, in the laundry room, wherever she could squeeze in space!  But, she never felt like things were easy to access, and she wanted a system in place.

Here was the space before:

Screen Shot 2015-06-11 at 9.36.39 AM Really, she just needed a way to contain everything she was using and to think outside the box when organizing.  Sometimes we are so used to having things one particular way that we don’t take time to think if that zone is really the most effective use of space.

In a trip to the Dollar Tree and the Dollar Spot at Target, everything was completed for right around $30.  No kidding.  Here is the after:
