Easy Salad in a Jar | Organized Lunches!

by doitonadimeblog Filed Under: DIY Projects, Dollar Tree, Organization, Recipes

Making lunches can be a pain (I mean really…we have to do it EVERY DAY??), and making healthy choices is even more time consuming.  Washing, cutting, peeling, prepping.  That’s why I’m loving my salad in a jar.  They are so easy to prep at the beginning of the week, so you can eat healthfully all week long but not have to worry about the time commitment.

Here is how I prepare and serve them along with my favorite home-made Italian Dressing.

 Italian Dressing

  • 3 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 2 Tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of Italian Seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • (Red pepper flakes for a little kick…my favorite part!)

May 2015 Favorites!

by doitonadimeblog Filed Under: Advice & Vlogs, Dollar Tree

I don’t typically share favorites videos, but these are some products and random odds and ends I’ve been wanting to feature that I’m enjoying (but don’t necessarily warrant a whole video).

1)  Simple Human Automatic Soap Dispenser  This thing is the bomb!  Charlie got it for me for mother’s day, and after using it for a while, I can’t help but think about all the germs I avoid spreading by not touching a dispenser.
2)  La Croix Sparkling Water.  Since filming, I’m now branching out and trying other flavors.  They are all no calorie, no artificial flavors or sweeteners, no sugar fizzy water drinks.  But it feels like you are cheating and drinking a soda….or a “pop” if you are from the midwest.  Ha!

3)  Barilla Penne Pasta with Veggies.  These are SO good, and it makes you wonder how they sneak the veggies in there.  Fun fact, you can actually smell the veggies as the pasta cooks!

4)  Red Lipstick:#7 “The Best Red” by Milani.  I’ve worn this glamorous, yet some how very every-day, lip-color in most of my videos!

5)  Dollar Tree Mason Jar products: You can’t go wrong with these!  (More to be featured in an upcoming video!)

6)  Dollar Tree “Washi” tape.  I use this all over my house and I organize it in a Dollar Tree acrylic organizer (another one of my faves).

7)  Peonies.  They are so beautiful.  Probably one of my favorite flowers, and I love to cut them and bring them inside.

8)  Jesus Storybook Bible.  I love this children’s Bible.  It is beautifully written, intentional, and one of the best I have ever seen!

Creating a gallery wall is so simple, and you probably have all of the supplies you need on hand!  Also in this video, I show you how to make a DIY “etched glass” frame using dollar tree decals.  You will love this!

Dollar Store Furniture and Decor

by doitonadimeblog Filed Under: DIY Projects, Dollar Tree, Money Saving, Organization

There are a couple main player in my eyes in the Dollar Store game: Dollar Tree (where everything is $1), Family Dollar (where things are more than a Dollar, but still very inexpensive).

Here are some of my favorite organizational and decor products in recent weeks from these two stores.  Easy, inexpensive, functional, AND beautiful!  What more could you ask for?

Laundry Room Organizing Tips

by doitonadimeblog Filed Under: Dollar Tree, Money Saving, Organization

Keeping an organized laundry room doesn’t have to be stressful.  Truly 🙂

Here’s are my favorite tips for keeping your laundry room organized and easy to maintain….

1) Have two laundry baskets.  This sounds so simple, but not everyone does this!  One for clean clothes on top of the dryer, and one for dirty clothes on top of the washer.  It makes for an easy in-out, efficient system this is quick to put away 🙂

2)  Do one load a day.  I know this sounds excessive.  But with HE washers, it actually is very water saving because the machine senses the amount of clothes and uses water accordingly.  It’s easy to stay on top of little loads and put them away nightly.  Big loads are the worst.

3) Get creative if you feel like your space isn’t pretty!  I picked up a roll of shelf liner from the Dollar Tree to line the back of my cabinets to give them a more custom and pulled-together look.

4) Less is more!  Don’t over-pack your space.  You can see more on that here.

5) Forget Pinterest and go for function.  Easy to access items should be the goal.

6) Organize items in a zig-zag pattern (so you can see everything) and it makes products not get lost in the back of the shelf.

6) Coral cords with a cuff from an old shirt.  This trick really does work!

7)  Get adhesive labels from the Dollar Tree to label your cabinets.  They are easy to change out!

8)  Under the Shelf Baskets are the BOMB.  They can virtually double your space in tiny areas.

Enjoy!  What are your best tips?

Dollar Tree DIY Ice Pops

by doitonadimeblog Filed Under: Dollar Tree, Recipes

As the days start to get warmer and sunnier, it’s time for ice pops!  I was so excited when I saw Dollar Tree sells and ice pop mold, and I was quite impressed with the quality.

Making your own ice pops is so easy (and healthy).  Whisk the following ingredients together and pour into ice molds!

  • 1 cup vanilla yogurt (or other flavored yogurt)
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract

New Dollar Tree Products!

by doitonadimeblog Filed Under: Dollar Tree

Here are a few items I picked up at the Dollar Tree, and some others that I think are fantastic and worth a mention!

You’ll notice that many of my videos take you in the store after showing a small haul.  That’s because I’m not buying all of the products that I’m showing.  Why?  I don’t need them, but I want to share them with you in case YOU do.  I don’t advocate going into DT and spending $40.  Buy what you truly need, and know that the option is out there when that item is NECESSARY FOR YOUR HOME.

Keep killing it, Dollar Tree!  Woot! 🙂

Space-Saving Dollar Tree DIYS

by doitonadimeblog Filed Under: DIY Projects, Dollar Tree, Organization

The majority of the messages and comments that I receive are those of you asking how to organize small spaces.  You don’t have a walk-in closet and you lack storage options.  I want to keep providing you ideas and inspiration for making the most of what you have.  Small spaces are NOT a curse, they really can be a blessing.

Here are two quick ideas that we use around our home:  The first is turning Dollar Tree bins into drawers and the second is a tank top organizer.

Inexpensive and easy.  Watch the video below to see how to make them!

Tools needed for Pull Out Drawers:

  • Dollar Tree bin with a lip or ledge
  • 1/4″ Aluminum Trim Channel (comes in 4 ft lengths), cut to size
  • #6 1/2 inch screws
  • Power Drill (with a drill bit slightly wider than screw, and a bit about 1/3 the circumference)

Tools needed for Tank Top / Scarf Organizer:

  • Wooden hanger
  • Dollar Tree shower rings
  • Scarves and tank tops!

Kitchen Drawer Organizing Made EASY!

by doitonadimeblog Filed Under: Dollar Tree, Organization

In this video I share my no-fail kitchen drawer organization system.  I say “perfect” in the video, not because we have perfect drawers 100% of the time, but because this system is as close to it as I think we are gonna get!  Ha!  There are lots of amazing drawer organizing systems out there that are awesome (but also pretty pricey), and I wanted to keep this on a budget.

My keys are:

1) PURGING EVERYTHING.  JUST DO IT!

2) Dollar Tree Coated Wire Baskets

3) Gripper Shelf Liner

4) Dollar Tree Mounting Squares
