I love having a clean and organized kitchen, but a daily cleaning routine isn’t going to cut it all the time…especially when you open the oven! Ha! $1 Dollar Store Hacks: Laundry & Kitchen Organization

It’s another Dollar Tree Hacks video! I’ll share my current favorite hacks for organizing the kitchen and how to get your kids to help you with your laundry routine and folding clothes. These Dollar Tree tips and DIYs have both been true lifesavers in our house.

First up is a DIY folding board. These are great and can be used with shirts, pants, towels and more. Normally they retail for $15-24, but you can make it for $6 at the Dollar Store. I know some people use cardboard to do this, but the clothes don’t have the same crisp fold, and it doesn’t last a long time (bends very easily), and the clothes stick to the sides. That’s why I love this hack so much!

I’ll also show how to make DIY fridge liners to catch spills and drips. If you try nothing else in this video, please try this tip– it has truly changed our fridge (and no I’m not using placemats!). It makes it so easy to clean, and they don’t slide around at all.

Hidden Storage Solutions for Any Room

Are you living in an apartment? Are you renting? Do you literally have NO space to organize? No pantry? No vanity? Small bathroom? No floor space? It wasn’t accomplished from the Dollar Store this time, but I want to share with you real and effective solutions that really work. If you truly have not a square inch left of space in your home, apartment or condo, I’m so glad you are here. These organizing ideas and tips are EXACTLY what I would do in your situation to have more space in your pantry, kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, and more.

While most people opt for a self storage solution from an external provider, it is still possible to enhance your own homes storage. I have used self storage locations in the past though where the below just simply doesn’t work due to a lack of space.

Three Ingredient Unicorn and Galaxy Cookies (Cooking With Carson)

In this episode of Cooking With Carson we show you how to make Meringue Cookies that look like beautiful galaxies and unicorn poop! ? Kids get SO excited about this sweet recipe and it couldn’t be easier! It’s just three ingredients! Galaxy DIYs and cute Pinterest unicorns have been catching our eyes lately, and Carson has been begging to make this one.

My friend Windi made Carson’s Apron for his birthday. So cute, right? You can see her store here!

INGREDIENTS AND SUPPLIES:

  • 4 Egg whites (use large eggs)
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1/4 tsp Cream of Tartar (optional, but helps the eggs/sugar mixture reach max fullness)
  • Vanilla Extract (optional for flavoring)
  •  Gel Food Coloring (Use gel for the brightest color, this is the kit I used to achieve galaxy colors)
    • If you haven’t tried gel coloring yet, and only want to spend a couple bucks, this is a GREAT starter kit
  • Piping Kit (they also sell them at Dollar Tree!)

How to make PERFECT Meringue Cookies (tips and tricks we learned):

  • Use a perfectly clean bowl (I wiped mine down with vinegar before mixing). If any oil or grease is in the bowl the eggs and sugar won’t set.
  • Use room temperature eggs. This is very important. Let sit out for at least an hour before using.
  • Start mixing slowly and then slowly speed up mixing
  • Add sugar when eggs make stiff peaks.
  • It takes longer than you think. About 5 solid minutes of mixing.
  • Add sugar SLOWLY 1 Tablespoon at a time.
  • Do not over mix. If mixture starts to separate or become chunky, you’ve mixed too much.

Dollar Tree Birthday Party Ideas! If you saw my haul and shop with me video, you know I have been planning a joint birthday for the boys with Dollar Tree items. Carson’s 4th and Owen’s 1st Birthday! The theme was Dr. Seuss/Cat in the Hat/One Fish Two Fish Turning Four Fish (Carson thought that one up all on his own). Dollar Tree JACKPOT! (huge shopping vlog!)

You asked, so here it is!  Come to Dollar Tree with me.  The BIGGEST Dollar Tree in my city shop with me vlog!  I have never been in a dollar store this huge, and this stuff was insane.  I don’t think I’ve ever scored as many “rare” organizing finds as I have in this video, and there were so many new products for Summer (May, June, and July) of 2017.  I also scored a ton of home decor items, wall decals, and party supplies for the boys’ first birthday (it’s a Dr. Seuss theme).  I had so much fun filming this!
