Unique Secrets to Organize a Small Bathroom!

by doitonadime Filed Under: Organization

Have a small bathroom and need tips and ideas to maximize space? Maybe you’ve just invested in some new bath towels and are struggling to find a space to put them. In this video I’ll show you how to organize a small bathroom without it looking cluttered. Pedestal sinks can be a challenge to organize, so I’ll share with you my two favorite and unique hacks to organize a tiny bathroom or powder room. You won’t regret trying them.

FLOATING SHELVES (these are all 30″ which looks best above standard doors)

*White
*Natural Wood
*Black
Shelf I used (you can usually catch on sale for $30 or under)

*Fold up step stool to reach shelf (folds flat)

*Pocket Shower Organizer Curtain
(important note: your rod must be anchored to the wall! Here’s an example of a great rod, curved to give you more space in the shower.)

*Small Shower Organizer

DIY Watermelon Popsicles

by doitonadime Filed Under: Recipes

Welcome to the latest episode of Cooking with Carson #cookingwithcarson (a 4th of July special)! Looking for an easy summer activity you can do with your kids on a budget…using Dollar Store items? This recipe is one of our favorites! Easy Watermelon Popsicles!

Watermelon is yummy all on its own, but these popsicles are DELICIOUS and really cool you down on a hot summer day. They have a completely unique flavor that the orange juice brings out and the soft texture of a store-bought popsicle (so you don’t feel like you are biting ice as some home-made versions can be.)

Ingredients & Supplies (this makes about 10 large popsicles)
4 cups watermelon (about 1/4 of a medium watermelon)
1/4 cup sugar (less if desired)
2 tablespoons orange juice
*Dollar Tree Popsicle Molds or these molds (great for smaller serving size for kids and really easy to remove!)
*Blender

$1 Dollar Store Hacks: Laundry & Kitchen Organization

by doitonadime Filed Under: DIY Projects, Dollar Tree, Organization

It’s another Dollar Tree Hacks video! I’ll share my current favorite hacks for organizing the kitchen and how to get your kids to help you with your laundry routine and folding clothes. These Dollar Tree tips and DIYs have both been true lifesavers in our house.

Check out my Dollar Tree Playlist and more Dollar Tree Hacks here!

First up is a DIY folding board. These are great and can be used with shirts, pants, towels and more. Normally they retail for $15-24, but you can make it for $6 at the Dollar Store. I know some people use cardboard to do this, but the clothes don’t have the same crisp fold, and it doesn’t last a long time (bends very easily), and the clothes stick to the sides. That’s why I love this hack so much!

I’ll also show how to make DIY fridge liners to catch spills and drips. If you try nothing else in this video, please try this tip– it has truly changed our fridge (and no I’m not using placemats!). It makes it so easy to clean, and they don’t slide around at all.

If you have any suggestions about Dollar Tree turntables/lazy susans, please let me know. I couldn’t get mine to work!

Dollar Tree Shopping Vlog with LoveMeg

by doitonadime Filed Under: Dollar Tree

Come shop with me at Dollar Tree! All new finds for 2017! This Dollar Tree is HUGE (it’s the biggest in my city). Today was the perfect day out with Meg from LoveMeg! She came to visit and we had a girls’ shopping afternoon. In this vlog, we found organization items, FULLY stocked shelves, food, home and kitchen decor, bins, baskets, lazy susan turn tables (these normally retail for $5!), and so much more!

Check out Meg’s video.

These items are for Summer of 2017 (June, July and August). I’m looking forward to sharing more items for the back to school season. If you want another shopping vlog (I’ll take Carson with me), give this video a thumbs up and be on the lookout for the next shop with me vlog. Be sure to subscribe so I can catch you there!

Hidden Storage Solutions for Any Room

by doitonadime Filed Under: DIY Projects, Organization

Are you living in an apartment? Are you renting? Do you literally have NO space to organize? No pantry? No vanity? Small bathroom? No floor space? That’s a tall order, especially if there’s no-one like holloway storage sydney around to help move some of your stuff out. It wasn’t accomplished from the Dollar Store this time, but I want to share with you real and effective solutions that really work. If you truly have not a square inch left of space in your home, apartment or condo, I’m so glad you are here. These organizing ideas and tips are EXACTLY what I would do in your situation to have more space in your pantry, kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, and more.

While most people opt for a self storage solution from an external provider, it is still possible to enhance your own homes storage. I have used self storage locations in the past though where the below just simply doesn’t work due to a lack of space.

LOW BUDGET (I picked up mine for $19.99- fluctuate in price):
*4 Tier Pull Out Storage Tower
*5 Tier Pull Out Storage Tower

You can DIY similar versions, although it seems more expensive to make than to buy. However, it’s an option if you are handy!

SEMI-CUSTOM:
These Cabidor shelves are currently 30% off on Amazon (they were on an even deeper sale recently!) I bought mine used.

Three Ingredient Unicorn and Galaxy Cookies (Cooking With Carson)

by doitonadimeblog Filed Under: DIY Projects, Recipes, Teaching

In this episode of Cooking With Carson we show you how to make Meringue Cookies that look like beautiful galaxies and unicorn poop! ? Kids get SO excited about this sweet recipe and it couldn’t be easier! It’s just three ingredients! Galaxy DIYs and cute Pinterest unicorns have been catching our eyes lately, and Carson has been begging to make this one.

My friend Windi made Carson’s Apron for his birthday. So cute, right? You can see her store here!

INGREDIENTS AND SUPPLIES:

  • 4 Egg whites (use large eggs)
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1/4 tsp Cream of Tartar (optional, but helps the eggs/sugar mixture reach max fullness)
  • Vanilla Extract (optional for flavoring)
  •  Gel Food Coloring (Use gel for the brightest color, this is the kit I used to achieve galaxy colors)
    • If you haven’t tried gel coloring yet, and only want to spend a couple bucks, this is a GREAT starter kit
  • Piping Kit (they also sell them at Dollar Tree!)

How to make PERFECT Meringue Cookies (tips and tricks we learned):

  • Use a perfectly clean bowl (I wiped mine down with vinegar before mixing). If any oil or grease is in the bowl the eggs and sugar won’t set.
  • Use room temperature eggs. This is very important. Let sit out for at least an hour before using.
  • Start mixing slowly and then slowly speed up mixing
  • Add sugar when eggs make stiff peaks.
  • It takes longer than you think. About 5 solid minutes of mixing.
  • Add sugar SLOWLY 1 Tablespoon at a time.
  • Do not over mix. If mixture starts to separate or become chunky, you’ve mixed too much.
