Dollar Tree Birthday Party Ideas! If you saw my haul and shop with me video, you know I have been planning a joint birthday for the boys with Dollar Tree items. Carson’s 4th and Owen’s 1st Birthday! The theme was Dr. Seuss/Cat in the Hat/One Fish Two Fish Turning Four Fish (Carson thought that one up all on his own). Here’s how I created some simple DIYs to make the party special and did it all on a budget! I also share some simple ways we stayed organized.
DIYs and how-tos in this video:
– Lorax Drink Dispenser
– Dr. Seuss Photo Booth Props
– DIY Truffula Trees

One of our favorite ideas is to fill up a small kiddie pool with bubbles (we added a little food coloring for fun). We then made bubble blowers out of coat hangers and fly swatters. The kids absolutely loved it! The next day we hosed down the porch since it was presoaked in bubble solution – better than power washing 🙂
Ha, I love this!
Love this! Thank you for all of your inspiration! Always have my notifications on 🙂
I love your videos and despite being in Australia with no stores that come close to the Dollar Tree, your organising tips are always fabulous!
I loved your boy’s party and miss the days of themed birthdays as my boys are now 18 and 16.
I have a few favorites and they were always done on a super tight budget.
The first was a wildlife/bug themed party and the games were all hand made and fabulous. There was a bit of putting hands into containers full of plastic bugs to find things, they made their own binoculars, we played feed the chicken to the croc (ala pin the tail on the donkey) and then searched for hidden animals following rhyming clues – a long time ago, but the first big party I threw for my kids.
The next was a Viking party for my youngest son’s 7th birthday and I built a Viking longship with striped sail, painted shields and dragon’s head prow for the boys to play on. They played a game where they had to follow clues to find pieces of a puzzle then follow the instructions to find the Viking treasure. The whole party including a 12′ long boat, food, cake and decorations cost $80 as I used lots of things I already had on hand.
My final fave was my eldest son’s 9th birthday and it was a crime solving mystery party. I took their photos as they arrived and printed out official ID’s, the kids were given a kit with a black cap, sunglasses, lanyard ID, pen and notepad. Then they were given clues on a password protected PowerPoint presentation and had to solve each clue to work out the password to move on to the next clue. It was fun and loud and most of the kids were hooked, but a couple got bored very quickly and disappeared to play the PlayStation ?
Again, all food, cake, favours and decorations cost less than $100 and we had 12 kids over.
These are such creative ideas, Tracey!
