It’s that time of year again– after Thanksgiving starts the mad-rush for holiday gifts. If you are like me, you like shopping to be EASY, quick, and SUPER penny-pinchin’. Here are some economical ideas to keep your list budget-minded (all ideas are under $20 with several under $5!) but also meaningful and something the recipient would actually be excited to receive.
**Keep reading and be sure to enter the giveaway (below!)**
GIFTS FOR HIM
- UNDER $10 “Night-In Kit” – I love creating experience gifts that allow you to make memories together. Pair a $5 or under movie and some budget friendly candy and popcorn (you can usually find them for under a dollar a box by most checkouts), dress up the box, and you have a simple night-in kit. You can’t go wrong with classic movies, especially old favorites.
- UNDER $10 Holiday Gift Pack – Gift packs are easy, ready-made and they come with TONS of coupons (if that’s your bag!). I love shaving supplies and bath and body products for guys. They are an instant win and really easy on the wallet (not to mention easy to wrap!) Tuck a few away for last-minute gifts ideas, too.
- UNDER $15 CALENDAR – The most budget-friendly place to find them is Walmart. Hands down. Personalize a calendar and check a name off the list. Change out a few pictures for each recipient. Seriously, this grandparent territory right here and so easy!
GIFTS FOR HER
- UNDER $20 SPA DAY – Herbal Essences Shampoo, Nail polish, pampered items (including a bath pillow) for a spa-day in. Using coupons I was able to do this for under $20. To make it even more personal, pair with a note an plan a chick-flick night in. Quality time with those you love is one of my favorite gifts to give. Things get old and break but memories grow better and richer the more you tell them. It’s our family motto.
- UNDER $5 DISH SOAP DISPENSER – This is such an EASY DIY! Take an olive oil bottle and your favorite dish soap and have a glam way to keep your dish soap on your counter. Tip and pour. This is a such a practical gift anyone would love. And it keeps your kitchen looking organized!
- UNDER $5 BROWNIE IN A MUG KIT – Did you know you can make a single serve brownie in a mug? YUP! And the ingredients are super simple. To print this recipe to give to a friend CLICK HERE!

Making candy, sweets, with my family. This tradition started with my mom and I and through the years grew to include sisters in law, and eventually nieces. I love that my teenage nieces now do their own candies for their friends. This is also and inexpensive gift idea. We get pretty dishes, tins, jars, from Dollar Tree and Walmart and give some of our homemade goodies to friends, teachers, postman etc.

This will be our first year having a real Christmas tree. We already have so many little things planned around that, and I just can’t wait
For your spa day idea (gift giving for her), you can also add your own body scrub. I make a lot of it for family and friends and it is SUPER easy. Melt 1/4 cup of coconut oil. Then I add 2 cups of regular sugar with 10-15 drops of essential oil (this time of year, I use peppermint oil and the rest of the year wild orange). Mix everything together well with a fork and place in a cute container! Voila.
Hint: make sure the container is plastic for the shower and large enough to get your hands into. I pick up 3 packs of containers at the Dollar Tree with instructions to make on the side.
Love that!
I love the idea of making time with your mom. Your gift ideas are wonderful !

Love these ideas… I have a ton of “seniors” to gift… so I usually “do it on a dime” style and make up “Have a night with Friends” baskets tailored to their particular kind of activity… CARD SHARKS get a basket with decks of cards, tally pads for scoring, nuts, mints, crackers & cheese & summer sausage, cocktail napkins, AND a mini loaf of my famous nut bread! BOOK NUTS get a basket of goodies that read well when planning a favorite book nite… like: HOT Beverage Packs: Cocoa, Hot Cider, Mint Tea… [They brew coffee or uncork their fav. wine] Book Marks that I print on my computer… Snacks like: Nuts, mints, etc. and a mini loaf of my famous cranberry bread. And of course… since the final season of Downton Abby is fast approaching… we’ve got to include: FROM Mrs. Patmore’s Kitchen… a basket that includes Recipes printed from the Downton site on cute recipe cards… my famous Fresh baked Raspberry Almond Scones of course, 2 or 3 kinds of TEA, Butter Mints, chocolates, pretty botanical cocktail napkins, and… get ready to que up the telly…. and don’t forget a small package of tissues for each guest… yes, there’s always something that will bring a tear to everyone’s eye!

Happy Holidays! I love your videos.
we are going to dog sleigh with my parents, my brother and his family.
It’s going to be the best memory EVER because that’s the first time they come all to visit me in Canada during winter and as my brother lives in Texas his kiddos had never had the chance to play in snow (even less dog sleighing) and we are going to have an amazing time (i think one of the best memory of my life) <3
And even just the fact that my parents are coming from Europe and my brother and his family from TX it's the best memory by itself.
#MakeYourMemories

I most look forward to decorating the tree and a gingerbread house with my niece. I try to make a holiday checklist to get done during the holiday season, and those are the top 2 on my list.
I’ll be honest. This is one of the most stressful holiday seasons we’ve had in years. Finances are a disaster this time around and my anxiety levels are through the roof. I guess I look forward most to the time I get to relax with my kids and we don’t have to rush around… after the shopping is done and the gifts are wrapped and I can finally breathe easy knowing that we made it through. I don’t like feeling like that. This is usually my favorite time of year. But prayerfully, I’ll be able to concentrate on the real reason for the season and let go of the stress.
I’m so sorry to hear that, Amanda. Hugs <3 Your heart and mind focusing on the real reason for the season is something we ALL need. Merry Christmas!
Looking forward to spending time with family and enjoying the nice warm Texas weather since we’re meeting at my mom’s place! So excited since it’s been 5 years since I’ve seen my siblings.

I love your channel Katherine. I was thinking of making a hashtag called #Katherinemademedoit. So many wonderful crafts and the video editing and lighting make you a joy to watch. I am looking forward to hosting several relatives this year at my home. I cook Thanksgiving dinner every year and no one comes to visit. This year there will be family. Hope you and yours have a happy holiday.
Haha, that’s too funny! You, too Cassandre!

I actually look most forward to the time away from the office and spending the time with my son,
Love all these ideas. My daughter and I buy matching pajamas and wear them while we are opening gifts. Love making memories with her and my son, but he won’t wear matching p.j.’s. Lol
My kids and I look forward to baking cookies with my Mom each year. Even now that they’re most young adults, they will still enjoy doing this together.
I am looking forward to spending time with my family.
Love your videos. Thnks for sharing your gift ideas.
Love the dish soap dispenser. I am going to give that to a couple girlfriends and myself for Christmas. Thanks for the idea.
I hope that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. God bless you and your family.
We always attend Christmas Eve service at the church where we got married…now with our kids!
I’m looking to our annual sleepover under the tree!
You are such a inspiration… love watching your videos 🙂

I would have to say caroling with new comers
My favorite memory this year and every is doing 12 days of Christmas with my two children. I do crafts and baking creating a lifetime of fun and celebration for them!
Cool ideas!
Love the cost saving ideas!
Love your sweet personality. You have a way of sharing great ideas that you are on “my” side and not condescending. I’m looking forward to sharing some special gifts with my former foster son’s biological family. They have had a tough couple of years and are working hard to be a strong family.
Great ideas.
I can’t wait to make cookie making memories with my grandchildren.
P.S. Carson is sooooo adorable.
I love Christmas time. I love the music, the lights, the colors, the sights, sounds, the food and the feeling of Christmas. I especially love the cooking. Growing up my mother would have everyone’s favorite cake for Christmas. I have two sisters so we were each in charge of making our favorite cake from scratch. My mother would make my father’s favorite which was a three layer coconut cake and two other cakes just in case anyone stopped by. (People always stopped by.) She would also make several sweet potato pies. We would start cooking Christmas Eve. This was the best time because all of the girls would be in the kitchen cooking, laughing and just having fun as my father snuck in for a taste every now and then when he wasn’t asleep on the couch. So much fun!!!!
Another that I’m looking forward to is dinner at my aunts house. Thank you again for the grate ideas and for the chance to win.
Can’t wait for dinner with my family at my aunts as well. Thank you again.
When my son, who is 24, asks me to make my Christmas candy and chocolates so he can take a platter of them to share at work just warms my heart like you can’t believe!
I love watching your videos!! I always get the best inspiration & motivation!
The thing I looked forward to this upcoming holiday is making new memories with my family. My daughter just turned 3 so she is more into Santa now and being very excited for the Holidays! I can’t wait too see what this Christmas has in store for us 🙂

I look forward to celebrating after my exams with family and friends! #MakeYourMemories
Love your videos.
Thank you, Rae!
#MakeyourMemories The memory I’m most looking forward to making this year is spending my niece’s 1st Christmas with her. I’m a first time auntie, so I’m excited to carry on our traditions with her.
Wow, we have so many. One of our favorite memories is the hubby, kiddos and I adopt a family for Christmas. We love giving back. It warms sure warms the heart.
Once again I want to say thank you for the videos and all the work you put into them. Can’t wait for Christmas to spend time with both my husbands family (married 6 months on the 27th) and my side of the family.
I am most looking forward to having a fun-filled holiday with the whole family as my mother is showing signs of dementia as well as my niece is moving to Bahrain and my daughter is moving out-of-state next year. It is likely to be the last time the whole family unit will be together again for many years.
Please pick me. It would really change my holiday for the better…
Good luck everyone.
