Pottery Barn Inspired Topiaries…from Dollar Tree!

by doitonadimeblog Filed Under: DIY Projects, Dollar Tree

Topiaries are so pricey.  Pottery Barn sells them for at least $60 a piece, and other stores still gouge you!  I’ve seen them at Home Goods for around $20-30 a piece (on the low end), and much higher for the larger ones.

But, you can make elegant, Pottery Barn inspired topiaries for LESS THAN $10 A TOPIARY!  Here’s what you need and how to do it:

    Kathryn,
Can I please make a couple of recommendations for your blog? I hope you will take my feedback well since I’m a long time patron of your content and these would make it easier for me to access your content from everywhere.

    1) Make your blog searchable. This should be easy to implement using your WordPress template, even a simple keyword search engine would be enough. I was looking for your Pottery Barn dupes post but I couldn’t find it because there’s visible no search bar 🙁
    2) It would also be easier to access the accompanying blog post from a video if you were to include a direct link to the post (not just your blog URL). Same example as the above post, when I couldn’t find it I thought, surely I can find it from the video for the post. Still no luck!
    3) Add tags to your posts. This will make searching and narrowing down the content so much easier. So if I was looking at, say your Pottery Barn dupes post, I could be like “gee, I wonder what other PB things she’s made” and if your blog post was tagged as “Pottery Barn” then I could just click on it and have a list of all the PB related posts you’ve made!
    4) Make your blog searchable on Google. When I realized that I couldn’t search within your blog I thought, surely Google must have indexed her blog so I can use Google’s search capabilities to find the post I need? What do you know, your blog wasn’t even in the first 2 pages of the search results (I didn’t go beyond that) when it should have been the top result.
    5) Adding to that, implement SEO (search engine optimization). This means you have specific tags in your content that will boost your blog up in the search results whenever someone is searching for specific things. If you Google SEO, you will find a million ways to do it and help increase traffic to your blog and YouTube content.

I absolutely love your channel and your blog and I think a few small changes will make it so much more accessible! I want to see you succeed so please don’t hesitate to ask me anything.

    Best,
    G

Alright, one last time. So I clicked on the Pottery Barn tag in this post. But this is the only post with that tag! Now I know you made the PB mirror (which is what I’ve been trying to search for all evening) so maybe you just need to update some posts with their appropriate tags? Hope this is helpful and I’m not coming off as crazy.

Thanks for your feedback. I try to make my content accessible, but YouTube is definitely my main platform and I’m still learning as a blogger. Appreciate the suggestions!
