Have lots of STUFF hanging around your home? Taking the first step of decluttering and getting rid of the excess is the single best way to help you get organized. Studies prove it!
Donating is great because it supports your local community and offers tax benefits, but many times you can make extra cash for your family selling what you don’t to someone else who CAN use it. Garage sales are a LOT of work, so here’s how I make money decluttering. I’ll show you how I use social media and VarageSale to make sales, how to make your posting stand out, and what sells well. I’ve sold over $100 worth of “junk” this month along and it feels so good!
Looking to sell on VarageSale? Download the apps (they are completely free to download and use!)
You can also check out my friend Jen’s social media “store” if you are in the greater Charlotte, NC area: Jen’s Facebook / Distressed Dragonfly Designs
*Thanks to VarageSale for Sponsoring this post. All opinions are my own. I’ve made hundreds of dollars for my family using this app so I was really excited to partner with them! Decluttering statistics source.*
I really enjoyed watching your Varage video! We are traveling in Australia, visiting my sister and seeing new places (to us they are new!). My goal is to lose 165 lbs and have lost 55 so far. When I started to lose, I would take my hubby or sister to go shopping for clothing that fit. Bad choice! Now, when I lose another size, we go to the Aussie version of the Thrift Shop. And being a little smarter, I now buy only two of each size, but also one of one size smaller. As soon as everything is washed, including the too bigs, We walk to the Thrift store and hand in that stuff. Since the round trek is only 5 kilometers, is close to the bank (we take in all our Aussie change every two weeks and have almost $1400. saved in an emergency fund), a pharmacy and the post office. A bakery 3 doors down has my favourite coffee for the trek back.
The thrift store also loves having people bring in clean glass jars with lids and set them out on the “Free” table. It is winter here, and our summer clothing resides in a small suitcase under the bed in our rented room. Everything not needed (like plastic bags) gets taken where it will be used. Give baby Owen and Big Brother Carson cuddles from us, please :).
Thanks for sharing these great tips. I agree with you using social media is fast and hassle free when it come to selling your stuff.
It’s amazing how much stuff you can find around the house that has enough value to sell. My daughter uses Poshmark, but I’m going to have to tell her about Varagesale. Great article!
