Hey, guys! In today’s video I’m sharing FIVE tips that we use to keep our morning running organized smoothly with two young kids. Carson is 5 and going back to school and Owen is 2 and attends a mommy’s morning out preschool! It isn’t perfect. Far from it, but here are some easy ways we stay organized. From cleaning, to motivation, to simple strategies to stay organized, here is our simple back to school morning routine. I hope you enjoy!

The BEST oatmeal breakfast bars:
1/2 cup pure maple syrup (you can also use organic, local honey)
1 cup natural peanut butter
2 cups rolled oats
Combine peanut butter and syrup over low heat. Stir until smooth and combined. Add oats. Mix until well combined and transfer to an 8×8 cake pan lined with wax paper. Set in fridge to harden and cool. Cut into bars, eat and enjoy!

Thanks for being real! And for sharing some fantastic ideas and a recipe I’m going to try today! Hang in there sweet girl. Anxiety is real and hard. Prayers and hugs!
Thanks for the kind comment. I appreciate it!
I am getting ready to download your Home Binder…Although my children are semi-adults (21, 22, 24) I can use some help with organization…I lost my sister, father and mother within 4 months so cleaning and organizing has not been a priority…Now I feel very overwhelmed since I haven’t cleaned thoroughly in months 🙁 can always count on you for a great idea, quick tip, recipe or easy-to-follow- guidelines to help me get back on track! Love your videos and website! SO HELPFUL! Thanks so much! <3 xo
So sorry for your loss. You’ve been dealing with so much lately. I hope that you can feel some peace this week. Thank you for sharing your story.
I commented earlier but not sure it went through…so if this is a repeat, sorry 😉
We love Do It On a Dime! I listen/watch your vids while my kids are working on a homeschool assignment. A few months back the sound was up and they heard and asked if they could watch. Since then, every morning they ask, “Is there a Do It On a Dime video???” We’ve all gotten some great tips and love your sincerity:) (BTW, the kids still home range from 11-17 and all are intrigued) Just this past Saturday my 15 year old showed me some inspo from the Target $1 spot that she saw on one of your videos. How did I miss that? LOL love it 😉
That’s great to hear! I’m glad your whole family can enjoy DIOAD videos together.
Love all your videos!
Please share where did you buy your purse/backpack? Appreciate it so much xo
The purse / backpack was at Kohl’s (and of course on sale). Thanks for watching!
Kathrine,
you’ve gone through life situations we know know about and many, many we don’t. I appreciate your joy, enthusiasm for life and your family, and for your honesty. Been thinking about you/family/city/state with Florence and praying for you.
Thank you for your kind comment. The bad weather has passed and we are all safe. Thank you for your prayers!
Fear Kathryn, thanks for sharing about your anxiety and PTSD! I struggle with both of those myself. I am amazed at all you are able to do. I find your vlog very inspirational. I can’t wait to do some of the Christmas crafts.
Thanks!!
Thanks for sharing your journey. I appreciate your sweet comment.
Kathryn, I get so excited when I see a new video from you! I almost never comment online, but my “still, small voice” wouldn’t shush today, lol,so….I recently “hit a bump in the road” myself, and am also experiencing feelings of anxiety/stress,coupled with adult ADHD. I’m a firm believer in, and advocator for, “This too shall pass”, but, I so needed to hear, “good enough, is good enough”, and “even if it’s not perfect, it’s ok”. Your videos have helped me so much in organizing my whole life. I still struggle with procrastination, but have definitely improved, in large part due to watching ur concise, yet informative videos. The Dollar Tree is definitely my guilty pleasure, and your DIY’s are so realistic, that even I can make pretty things from a cardboard box and a glue gun! I could go on and on, (ADD, ya know), but I just wanted you to know how much I appreciate all the hard work and time you invest in making these videos! And how much it is helping change one person’s life little by little!!
I so appreciate you taking the time to leave this thoughtful comment. I’m glad my videos have been an encouragement to you. It means so much to hear your heart today. Thank you!
Having anxiety has been a struggle for me as well. I find that setting “mini-goals” and having a “slow and steady” attitude as I make my way through my day helps. I love your vlog – Blessings!
Thank you, Jane, for sharing your struggle. I appreciate you!
Kathryn-
You are such a sweet, beautiful girl! I just found your blog and love it. I am 57 and have suffered with anxiety and PTSD for a very long time. I have finally realized that being organized helps me so much. I love all your ideas and money saving tips. I am most likely old enough to be your Mom, but you feel like a friend to me. Keep up the great work, honey.
Thank you, Patti, for the kind words and for sharing your journey. I’m so glad you are part of the Do It On A Dime family!
Thanks so much for sharing . I love the videos and watching your family moments!
Hey Kathryn,
Great video. Where did you get the backpack purse? Love it. Praying for you
It’s from Kohls!
You are a HUGE inspiration! I look forward to each post and Greatly appreciate all your content! Thank you!
Thank you, Shannon!
Hi Kathryn. Shocked to see Carson gets the school bus at 6.30am. He seems so young to be out of the house at that hour. What time does kindergarten start? In the UK they wouldn’t start until 8.30 – 9am, which can make juggling the commute to work a headache for parents but it seems a much more civilised hour for little ones.
Huge fan of your channel. Your warmth and positivity make you an absolute delight to watch. You’re the Youtube equivalent of a hug from a friend! Stay strong and keep on keeping on. Your DIOAD family are right beside you every step of the way. Emma x
School starts at 7:30! 🙂 It is early. Thank you for the kind words. I appreciate the DIOAD family!
The good thing is – you have the Lord to rely on. Go to him in prayer. Know that all of us have something going on in our lives. Each day brings new challenges. You ARE blessed with a beautiful home and family and a lot of common sense.
Hi Katherine I just watched another one of your many helpful videos. I forward them to my daughter so hopefully something will sink in!
I also want wanted to pass on some encouragement. My father in law suffered from severe depression and ended his life several years ago. He is always on our minds. I know you are mostly likely on systems over load so I will make this short. If making your videos makes you happy do them but if you find it over whelping stop. You are not responsible for anyone’s happiness! Let all of us lift you up for a change!
So this morning I pray for your happiness. I pray that the Holy Spirit will descend upon your family and help you find joy today!
Amen.
Hugs!!
Laura

Thank you for these sweet words, Millie! I hope you have a fantastic day as well.
Hi Kathryn
Your honesty and ability to keep it real is inspiring. I am a mom of 3 kiddos and truly enjoy learning new ways to keep my family happy, healthy and organized with your videos. I also struggle with anxiety and understand it is not easy. I just wanted to reach out and say thank you for all that you do.Sending peace your way.
Thank you, Susanne, for your kind words. Thank you for sharing your story. That means so much!
I so appreciate your videos!
Could you please share your source for the nubby pot and candle holder on the entryway table?
Hi Kathryn, I love reading your blog and watching your videos. I just wanted to say don’t feel pressured to post videos, vlogs etc constantly, and it’s ok to ‘tune out’ of the virtual world which is non stop and unrelenting. I feel happiest when I am off my phone, off the internet, have had time to myself doing nothing special, or cooking, reading, window shopping or re watching a favourite movie. I do this quite regularly, and it resets my brain and batteries. Take care.
Thank you for the comment. I agree that unplugging on a regular basis is such a helpful way to refocus.
Hi Katherine! I have no words to express how much I love your videos, tips and just I admire you and your family so much! You are just a very real, very sweet lady, and fantastic Mom and thanks for sharing with us your challenges with anxiety. Both my daughters, (20 and 23) suffer from anxiety and so I know it is a very real struggle. Hang in there! I will pray for you! Keep up the good work, because you are such an inspiration!
Thank you so much for your prayers and kind words. I appreciate it so much!
I just love the video. These are indeed amazing ideas. Much appreciated for sharing this wonderful post.
I love your videos! So great. So real.
I’ve just made these bars for my friend who’s just had a baby, I’ve just added a pinch of cinnamon. I’m calling them breastmilk bars as they have all the ingredients needed to boost milk supply. Took me 5 minutes to make! thanks for sharing.
So glad you’ve been able to make these for your friend!
